At Chadsmead, we believe that online safety is a crucial part of your child’s education. Details of teaching online safety can be found under the Curriculum tab. We ensure that the schools ICT systems are secure and protected against viruses and malware. We block access to potentially dangerous sites and where possible, prevent the downloading of potentially dangerous files.
The systems we use to filter and monitor online use are:
Sophos Firewall for Education
Sophos Cybersecurity as a Service: Cybersecurity Delivered
The network security device that monitors incoming and outgoing network traffic and permits or blocks data based on a set of security rules is Sophos. This firewall is purpose built for education. It establishes a barrier between our internal network and incoming traffic from external sources (such as the internet) in order to block malicious traffic like viruses and hackers.
It uses pre-defined activities including ‘not suitable for schools’ features such as SafeSearch, YouTube restrictions and Keyword Filtering to enable child safety online.
Senso – Remote Monitoring & Management
Senso.cloud | Cloud-Based Remote IT Monitoring and Management
SENSO safeguarding is designed to protect pupils and staff using school-provided resources. It proactively monitors and indicates to relevant staff, users who may be vulnerable or at risk, users who may pose a risk to others and inappropriate or harmful behaviour.
SENSO monitors for inappropriate messages or indications of vulnerability, as well as scanning every image and content. It uses inbuilt keyword libraries that are developed alongside some of the worlds leading safeguarding organisations and is updates twice monthly.
We also have acceptable use agreements for staff, governors, volunteers and visitors, as well as for children:
