At Chadsmead we take the mental health and well-being of our pupils seriously. While we recognise our responsibility to ensure our children are given every opportunity to be the best they can be academically, we also understand that we need to help equip them fully for life beyond school, including teaching them how to be resilient and how to cope when things don’t go to plan.
We aim to promote positive mental health through all we do, recognising that children need to be both resilient and mentally healthy in order to meet their full potential both academically in in life more widely.
When teaching about mental health we aim to give children the information that they need to make good decisions about their own wellbeing. It should enable them to recognise what is normal and what is an issue in themselves and others and, when issues arise, know how to seek support as early as possible from appropriate sources.
We have considered Chadsmead's Offer with particular reference to social, emotional and mental health needs. Please look at the document below:
Chadsmead Primary Academy has been a key contributor to our Academy Trust’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Minimum Offer, which can be found below. This document details what we pledge in terms of support for every child in our school to help support mental health and wellbeing, along with what we provide for those who need additional targeted support and finally what is in place for those needing specialised provision.
This is a new offer and still in its infancy but we are committed to ensuring all aspects of the offer are in place over the subsequent academic years.
