Physical Education

At Chadsmead Primary Academy, children take part in 2 hours of PE every week which take place both indoors, in our school hall, as well as outdoors on the playground and field. These lessons are delivered either by class teachers or specialist PE coaches from Progressive Sports, who have expert knowledge and are extensively trained in the areas of the curriculum they teach. The curriculum overview shows the aspects taught each half term. Class teachers deliver those aspects in red and coaches from Progressive Sports deliver the aspects in blue.

Children in Nursery and Reception have a mix of Physical Development through timetabled PE sessions and provision within their learning environment. During timetabled PE sessions, children use a programme called ‘Sports Xplorers’ which incorporates storytelling to engage children into being physically active.

Alongside the PE Curriculum, children have the opportunity to participate in numerous after school sports clubs including football, netball, invasion games, gymnastics and multisports.

Children are given the opportunity to participate in local competitions and tournaments. As a school we have enjoyed much success when competing with other schools and children are proud to represent their school.

In 2017/18 Chadsmead Primary Academy achieved for the second year running, the Gold School Games Mark for our commitment, engagement and delivery of competitive school sport. The Games Mark is awarded through the Sainsbury's School Games which is a key part of the Government’s programme to secure a sporting legacy from London 2012. The Sainsbury's School Games are a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire millions of young people across the country to take part in more competitive school sport. This wouldn't be achievable without the hard work and dedication from our children, Mr Haynes and all of the staff who run afterschool clubs and parents and carers who take the children to many sporting events!
